Our speaker was <em>TRANSCEND<\/em> Member, Psychologist Roy Eidelson, the President of Division 48 and author of <em>\u201cDoing Harm: How the World\u2019s Largest Psychological Association Lost Its Way in the War on Terror\u201d<\/em> (McGill-Queens University Press, 2023). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"yt-core-attributed-string yt-core-attributed-string--white-space-pre-wrap\" dir=\"auto\" role=\"text\"><span class=\"yt-core-attributed-string--link-inherit-color\" dir=\"auto\">Dr. Eidelson discussed the burgeoning repression of human rights, the escalating threats to vulnerable groups, and the rise of authoritarian leadership. The urgent need for psychologists to play a role in resisting these forces of oppression was highlighted. He is a clinical psychologist and the president of <\/em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eidelsonconsulting.com\/\" ><em>Eidelson Consulting<\/em><\/a><em>, where he studies, writes about, and consults on the role of psychological issues in political, organizational, and group conflict settings. He is a past president of <\/em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.psysr.org\/\" ><em>Psychologists for Social Responsibility<\/em><\/a><em>, former executive director of the University of Pennsylvania\u2019s Solomon Asch Center for Study of Ethnopolitical Conflict, and a member of the <\/em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalpsychology.org\/\" ><em>Coalition for an Ethical Psychology<\/em><\/a><em>.
