The Norwegians rank #3 after the native Spaniards and the English #2.<\/p>\n<p>Today Alfaz Mayor Vicente Arques unveiled a monument by the famous Basque sculptor Agustin Ibarrola in memory of the victims of the atrocious Oslo and Utoya terrorist attacks in Norway on 22 July 2011. He cited Gandhi: <i>\u201cThere is no road to peace; peace is the road.\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n<p>The monument is located in a park named in honor of a long time Alfaz resident, Prof. Johan Galtung, Norwegian by birth and known as \u2018the father of peace studies\u2019 for his peace work around the world\u00a0and more recently in Nepal, East Asia, Qatar, Bangladesh, Syria, Turkey and the USA.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/parque_galtung2.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-31048\" alt=\"parque_galtung2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/parque_galtung2.jpg\" width=\"238\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Galtung&#8211;like Ibarrola born in 1930&#8211; deeply moved with the distinction, thanked Alfaz for being a model of integration for peace.
