17 Nov 2025\u00a0– While concentrating a growing military force in the Caribbean against Venezuela, the Trump Administration is conducting a systematic persecution of Venezuelan immigrants in the United States. <\/em>In March, it deported 252 of them to a notorious prison in El Salvador known as the \u2018Terrorism Detention Centre\u2019, claiming that they had infiltrated the United States to wage an \u2018irregular war\u2019. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Interviewed now by the New York Times, 40 of these Venezuelans, who reported physical and psychological trauma, testified that they were savagely beaten, sexually assaulted by guards, and pushed to the brink of suicide. A team of independent forensic analysts found their testimonies to be consistent and credible, stating that the violence they suffered meets the United Nations definition of torture.<\/p>\n

At the same time, on the orders of the Trump Administration, the US armed forces continue to attack Venezuelan and Colombian vessels in the Caribbean Sea<\/strong> that are \u2018suspected of drug trafficking<\/i>\u2019. Since September, around 80 crew members have been killed in such attacks without any evidence that they were drug traffickers: they were not stopped and searched, but immediately hit with missiles that set the boats on fire, burning those on board alive. There is already evidence that some of them were fishermen.<\/p>\n

The Trump Administration\u2019s Department of Defense is deploying the USS Gerald R. Ford, the world\u2019s largest aircraft carrier, against Venezuela, along with its battle group consisting of several ships. The Pentagon says that<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cthe increased presence of US forces in the area of responsibility of the US Southern Command, which includes South and Central America, strengthens the United States\u2019 ability to monitor and counter illicit actors and activities that threaten the security and prosperity of the US homeland and our security in the Western Hemisphere.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

However, the true objective of this military operation is to overthrow President Nicolas Maduro<\/strong>. He is accused of collaborating closely with drug cartels and of seizing power illegally, in order to regain control of Venezuela, a country with the world\u2019s largest oil reserves, for the United States and its multinational corporations.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To this end, the Trump Administration has placed a $50 million bounty on President Maduro, as a reward for anyone who provides information leading to his arrest. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the same time, in the Middle East, the Trump Administration has cancelled the \u00a37 million bounty on Mohammad al-Jolani, leader of the terrorist group al-Nusrah Front (ANF), the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, removing him from the list of global terrorists.<\/strong> Al-Jolani himself, now going by the name Ahmed al-Sharaa<\/strong>, has proclaimed himself president of Syria, which he has taken over. \u201cPresident\u201d Ahmed al-Sharaa was received by President Trump at the White House and admitted into the \u201canti-terrorism coalition<\/i>\u201d, while his militias spread terror in Syria, massacring civilians. Also in the Middle East, the Trump administration is implementing its \u201cpeace plan for Gaza<\/i>\u201d, continuing to supply Israel with weapons in a relentless flow that has earned US war industries $32 billion since 2023. <\/span><\/p>\n

With the support of the US, Israel is consolidating its presence in Gaza, now reduced to rubble<\/strong>, and taking control of the West Bank with the aim of permanently undermining the prospect of a viable Palestinian state. <\/span><\/p>\n
