Since a ceasefire began in October, people might have hoped for real peace. Instead, the Gaza Strip has continued to face near-daily bombardments. Human rights groups and local reporters say the Israel Defense Forces have violated the ceasefire almost 500 times in just 44 days, killing hundreds of civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. Meanwhile, much of the media talks about the ceasefire as if it\u2019s still fully in place. To many, this \u201cceasefire\u201d feels more like a convenient illusion, something that lets Israel claim the war is winding down, even as Gaza continues to burn.<\/p>\n
