A UN official decried the incident as \u201cyet another summary execution\u201d by Israeli forces.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

28 Nov 2025\u00a0<\/em>–\u00a0The United Nations<\/a> today accused Israeli security forces of carrying out a \u201cbrazen\u201d killing of two Palestinian men who were seen surrendering in video footage.<\/p>\n

The footage, which was first aired by the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation<\/em> and reposted<\/a> on X by Drop Site<\/em>, shows two Palestinian men exiting with their hands raised from a building in the West Bank<\/a> city of Jenin that had been surrounded by Israeli forces.<\/p>\n

The two men then crawled out of the building entrance and knelt down with their hands still raised before apparently being instructed by Israeli forces to go back toward the entrance of the building. The two men did so, and were then shot dead by at least one Israeli officer.<\/p>\n

According<\/a> to France<\/a> 24<\/em>, United Nations rights office spokesman Jeremy Laurence told reporters on Friday that the incident was \u201cyet another apparent summary execution\u201d by Israeli forces.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are appalled at the brazen killing by Israeli border police yesterday of two Palestinian men in Jenin,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Laurence added that UN rights chief Volker Turk was demanding \u201cindependent, prompt, and effective investigations into the killings of Palestinians,\u201d and for those involved in the killings to \u201cbe held fully to account.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Palestinian Authority, which identified the two men killed by Israeli officers as 37-year-old Yussef Ali Asa\u2019sa and 26-year-old Al-Muntasir Billah Mahmud Abdullah, accused Israeli forces of carrying out \u201cbrutal\u201d executions that amounted to a \u201cwar crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a joint statement, Israeli police and the military said that the \u201cincident is under review by the commanders on the ground, and will be transferred to the relevant professional bodies,\u201d and they claimed that the two men killed were \u201cwanted individuals who had carried out terror activities, including hurling explosives and firing at security forces.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite pledges for a review of the incident, BBC<\/em> reports<\/a> that Israeli national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has already given a thumbs-up to officers\u2019 actions and he responded to footage of the incident by saying, \u201cTerrorists must die.\u201d<\/p>\n
