Are Canadians Satisfied with Their One-Voice Media? Here’s a Quality Alternative…<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As long as citizens seeking balanced political coverage of international conflicts are presented with only one side of the story, the democratic knowledge needed to achieve world peace can never occur.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If anyone is in any doubt about Canadian Government control over Canada\u2019s heavily subsidized media, the FOIA-released evidence is presented in my recent article under Notable Media Recipients and Amounts<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

However, there is one news website \u2014 founded in 2001 by an award-winning Canadian economist \u2014 that would never be subsidized by the Canadian Government.<\/p>\n

Why? Because, like the fourth-estate media of old, it offers alternative perspectives to the one-voice war coverage dominating today\u2019s subsidized media.<\/p>\n

The Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG)<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2001, Canadian economist Dr. Michel Chossudovsky founded the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG), an independent research and media organization based in Montreal. It operates the daily news analysis website, Global Research<\/em> at globalresearch.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Global Research<\/em> site publishes content in multiple languages. By 2020, it had a significant online following, including over 275,000 Facebook followers, 37,300 Twitter followers, and 35,800 YouTube subscribers.<\/p>\n

It has posted over 100,000 articles since its inception.<\/p>\n

Global Research<\/em> features articles by high-profile writers with impressive experience and backgrounds, some of whom are listed below:<\/p>\n

Michel Chossudovsky was born in 1946, the son of Evgeny Chossudovsky, a Russian Jewish \u00e9migr\u00e9 who had a distinguished career with the United Nations. Evgeny believed in peaceful co-existence between conflicting economic systems<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Michel\u2019s s mother, Rachel Sullivan, was an Irish Protestant who studied at Queen\u2019s University in Belfast.<\/p>\n

Raised in Switzerland, Michel pursued higher education at the University of Manchester in England, and earned a doctorate from the University of North Carolina.<\/p>\n

He moved to Canada in 1968 and joined the University of Ottawa as a professor of economics. Becoming a full professor in 1979, he taught until his retirement in 2014, when he was designated professor emeritus.<\/p>\n

He also taught as Visiting Professor at academic institutions in Western Europe and Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n

His publications have been translated into more than 20 languages.<\/p>\n

Chossudovsky has been interviewed by CBC, CTV, BBC, RT (Russia Today), and Le Monde diplomatique.<\/p>\n

Claims that Global Research Promotes Conspiracy Theories<\/strong><\/p>\n

When Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, he discovered from its administrative files <\/a>that the Biden White House together with the FBI had been shutting down politically inconvenient Twitter accounts, or at least shadow-banning their reach.<\/p>\n

Among these actions, Twitter had begun adding warning labels to Global Research<\/em> articles in May 2020, which coincided with the site\u2019s questioning of COVID-19 policies.<\/p>\n

In fact, that full-page warning advisory continues to this day: All 100,000 articles in the Global Research<\/a><\/em> database<\/a> carry this blanketing full-page warning:<\/p>\n

In addition to this Twitter action, the Canadian press \u2014 prompted by the same US administration that gave censorship instructions to Twitter \u2014 has warned about Global Research<\/em> \u201cdisinformation\u201d:<\/p>\n

On October 21, 2020, Canada\u2019s public broadcaster, the CBC, published an investigative piece titled \u201cCanadian professor\u2019s website helps Russia spread disinformation, says U.S. State Department,\u201d<\/a> referring to Chossudovsky as a \u201cfringe academic,\u201d and criticizing Global Research<\/em> for hosting conspiracy theories on 9\/11, COVID-19, and Russia.<\/p>\n

It cited \u201cexperts\u201d such as Marcus Kolga of the advocacy-based monitoring project, DisinfoWatch, warning of Chossudovsky as \u201cdangerous.\u201d Chossudovsky responded via his lawyer, denying Russian ties.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In addition, PolitiFact<\/em> \u2014 which uses descriptors such as \u201cpants on fire\u201d \u2014 has labelled the site a source of specious theories on 9\/11, vaccines, and global warming.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Atlantic Council\u2019s Digital Forensic Research Lab described Global Research<\/em> as pro-Putin and anti-NATO. The Economist<\/em> called it a \u201chub for conspiracy theories and fake stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

Global Research<\/em> itself has claimed suppression by platforms like Facebook, Google, and Twitter\/X, including reduced visibility and warnings.<\/p>\n

Supporting this claim, Google AI now reports that<\/p>\n

In 2017, the [Global Research] website experienced a 62% drop in traffic from Google search results, as Google began using “evaluators” to flag sites with “unsupported conspiracy theories”. This was part of a broader algorithmic change that affected a range of left-wing and<\/em> anti-war publications.<\/em> [my italics]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Peace appears to be the problem that requires censorship.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n

We can see from the backgrounds of Prof. Michel Chossudovsky and his UN-career father that both committed their lives to pursuing peace.<\/p>\n

Given that our legacy media spends most of its time reporting episodes within the permanent war economy, peace studies may strike some readers as naive, if not irrelevant \u2014 and perhaps even conspiratorial.<\/p>\n

They might ask why Elon Musk \u2014 after raising $44 billion to purchase Twitter\/X to provide a \u201ctown square\u201d free-speech platform for constructive public discussion worldwide \u2014 would allow censorship of this peace-based news site.<\/p>\n

It seems likely that Musk does not know that the unique and extraordinary Global Research <\/em>news service and its archive remain censored.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s possible there are surviving algorithms.<\/p>\n

Or there may be hackers serving the \u201cwar system\u201d of the military-industrial complex \u2014 the war system<\/em> so eloquently explained by the late Prof. Graeme MacQueen in his documentary, \u201cPeace, War, and 9\/11.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Hackers \u2014 a nuisance deplored in the banking world \u2014 have reached all-time sophistication at intersecting bank transfers.<\/p>\n

(Recently even my own 2009 Twitter\/X account with 10K followers was hacked in early November \u2014 yet not used at all. Twitter has informed me that the usurper used a disposable email domain (a \u201cburner email,\u201d instantly disowned), which now resides in my account, supplanting my own email identifier and locking me out.)<\/p>\n

In this unstable world, whatever is going on behind the scenes to keep the permanent war economy going, we are offered an essential understanding in James W. Douglass\u2019s new book, Martyrs to the Unspeakable: The Assassinations of JFK, Malcolm, Martin, and RFK<\/a><\/em>\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026that the disastrous course of the military-industrial complex that emerged in the 1960\u2019s has vastly accelerated since four great peace-makers sacrificed their lives to reverse its momentum\u2026<\/p>\n

Those executions and their cover-ups were a destruction of democracy for every generation of Americans since then and a catastrophe for the world.
