US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee\u2014who last year admitted Gazans were starving\u2014was among those noting a new global hunger report by the UN agency that reported the 2025 famine as it unfolded. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

7 Aug 2026\u00a0<\/em>–\u00a0For nearly three years, Israeli officials and their US backers have denounced United Nations<\/a> agencies reporting the facts of Israel\u2019s genocidal assault on Gaza<\/a> as lies, but now many of them are citing the latest global hunger study by the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund as proof that last year\u2019s famine<\/a> that killed at least hundreds of Palestinians<\/a> in the coastal exclave was a \u201choax.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UNICEF-led State of Palestine<\/a> Nutrition Cluster Coordination Meeting report<\/a>, published on July 22, shows decreased hunger rates in areas of Gaza<\/a> accessible to those conducting the survey. With Israeli forces controlling the majority of Gaza\u2019s territory and much of the strip flattened and inaccessible, the report\u2019s authors warned that \u201cthe survey findings should therefore be interpreted as representative.\u201d<\/p>\n

This did not stop the Israeli government and media, and Israel\u2019s supporters and sympathetic media abroad, from citing UNICEF\u2014which on Thursday said<\/a> that Israel is killing about one child a day in Gaza despite a so-called ceasefire\u2014and the broader UN, which they formerly accused of \u201clies,\u201d \u201cantisemitism<\/a>,\u201d \u201cblood libels,\u201d and \u201choaxes\u201d throughout a war that a UN commission of inquiry called<\/a> a genocide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce again, facts prevail over fiction,\u201d Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon said<\/a>. \u201cUN bodies are acknowledging that the false narrative against Israel is falling apart.\u201d<\/p>\n

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee<\/a> may have forgotten his acknowledgement<\/a> last year\u2014along with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance<\/a>\u2014that Palestinians were \u201cstarving\u201d in Gaza, aspersing the media for reporting on the starvation<\/a>.<\/p>\n
