See you! Goodbye!<br \/>\nWe&#8217;ll meet up again somewhere, sometime!<\/p>\n<p>Then I&#8217;m back on my own and I feel for the first time<br \/>\nA great desire to burst into tears.<br \/>\nTenderness and remorse well up from inside<br \/>\nAnd a sense of how little we were able to sow,<br \/>\nAnd how long is the way we still have to go.<\/p>\n<p>Will the seed of non-violence truly take root?<br \/>\nWill it become the approach of the future?<br \/>\nIs it possible to bring about change in the world<br \/>\nThrough the simple actions of those without arms?<\/p>\n<p>When the institutions show no signs of acting,<br \/>\nIs it really possible for people on their own<br \/>\nTo organise themselves and be<br \/>\nA thorn in the side of those who wield power?<\/p>\n<p>Till when shall the culture of non-violence be second?<br \/>\nWill this enterprise contribute to producing a change?<br \/>\nWhy did the media that invaded Somalia<br \/>\nAt the service of scenes of death and destruction<br \/>\nHardly mention the incredible scenes of peace?<\/p>\n<p>In this dreadful war who is wrong, who is right?<br \/>\nAs exporters of arms how much are we to blame<br \/>\nFor the rabid barbarities being carried out<br \/>\nOn the old and young in the land of Bosnia?<\/p>\n<p>Tonight I am too tired to answer those questions,<br \/>\nFor now I shall lull myself to sleep<br \/>\nWith a hope, an irrepressible hope:<br \/>\nIf the poor should want, things will change.<br \/>\n__________________________<\/p>\n<p><i>Poem written by Tonino upon his return to Italy after the March to Sarajevo on 15 Dec 1992 (translated by G.
