The Swedish foreign minister, who had to go and greet her on arrival at the airport, did not speak English, and asked someone in his office, &#8220;What can I say when she arrives?&#8221; &#8220;Just say, &#8216;Welcome to Sweden, how are you?'&#8221; he was told.<\/p>\n<p>On the way to the airport, he practiced several times in a singing Swedish tone, &#8220;Welcome to Sweden, how are you?&#8221; When Rice stepped off the plane, the foreign minister said, &#8220;Welcome to Sweden . . .&#8221;, but he forgot the rest.<\/p>\n<p>They sat silently next to each other in the limousine downtown, and after about 15 minutes the foreign minister suddenly turned to Rice with a smile and asked, &#8220;Who are you?&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Condoleezza Rice was going to come to Sweden for a state visit.
