{"id":41850,"date":"2014-04-14T12:00:10","date_gmt":"2014-04-14T11:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=41850"},"modified":"2015-05-05T21:35:06","modified_gmt":"2015-05-05T20:35:06","slug":"media-blackout-of-new-syria-revelations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2014\/04\/media-blackout-of-new-syria-revelations\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Blackout of New Syria Revelations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 6 [2014], The London Review of Books published in its online journal Seymour Hersh\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2014\/04\/the-red-line-and-the-rat-line\/\" >\u201cThe Red Line and the Rat Line.\u201d<\/a><\/span> Hersh continues to expose details surrounding the staged August 21[2013] chemical attack incident in Syria, which apparently pretty much everyone in Washington\u2019s intelligence bureaucracy suspected was carried out by the rebels as soon as it happened.<\/p>\n<p>Seymour Hersh is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist whose 40+ years\u00a0career includes the exposing of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/My_Lai_Massacre\"  target=\"_blank\">My Lai Massacre\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0and its cover-up, as well as the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abu_Ghraib_prison\"  target=\"_blank\">Abu Ghraib prison scandal<\/a>. His December 19 report, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2013\/12\/whose-sarin\/\" >\u201cWhose Sarin?\u201d<\/a><\/span> -was his first report\u00a0to expose the Syria chemical attack hoax based on close contact with US Intelligence officials. While \u201cWhose Sarin\u201d was\u00a0originally prepared\u00a0for the Washington Post, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/rosiegray\/report-obama-administration-knew-syrian-rebels-could-make-ch\"  target=\"_blank\">newspaper rejected it<\/a> and\u00a0a media blackout followed in American press. Currently, Hersh\u2019s newest investigative findings are going unacknowledged in mainstream\u00a0US media.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2014\/04\/the-red-line-and-the-rat-line\/\" >Hersh\u2019s report<\/a> confirms the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Obama\u2019s push for attack on Syria was halted last minute when evidence that the Syrian government had nothing to do with the August 21 chemical attack became too overwhelming<\/li>\n<li>It had been well known to US government officials\u00a0throughout the summer of 2013 that Turkish PM Erdogan was supporting al-Nusra Front in attempts to manufacture Sarin<\/li>\n<li>US military knew of Turkish and Saudi program for bulk Sarin production inside Syria from the spring of 2013<\/li>\n<li>UN inspectors knew the rebels were using chemical weapons on the battlefield since the spring of 2013<\/li>\n<li>As a result of the staged chemical incident, the White House ordered readiness for a \u201cmonster strike\u201d on Syria, which included \u201ctwo B-22 air wings and two thousand pound bombs\u201d -and a target list which included military and civilian infrastructure targets (note:\u00a0most of these are\u00a0in densely populated civilian areas)<\/li>\n<li>Full military strike was set for September 2<\/li>\n<li>UK defense officials relayed to their American counterparts in the lead up to planned attack: \u201cWe\u2019re being set up here.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>CIA, MI6, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey set up a \u201crat line\u201d back in 2012 to run Libyan weapons into Syria via Turkey, including MANPADS; the Benghazi consulate was headquarters for the operation<\/li>\n<li>Obama OK\u2019ed Turkish-Iranian gold export scam\u00a0(that went from March 2012 to July 2013)\u00a0which erupted in a Turkish\u00a0scandal that nearly brought down the Erdogan government<\/li>\n<li>US Intelligence community had immediate doubts about Syrian regime responsibility for Aug. 21 attack, yet \u201creluctant to contradict the president\u201d<\/li>\n<li>US government will not expose continued Turkey support of terrorism simply because \u201cthey\u2019re a NATO ally\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, last Thursday<b>\u00a0<\/b>freelance Middle East journalist Sara Elizabeth Williams broke the story of a CIA\/US Military run training camp for Syrian rebels\u00a0in the Jordanian desert. VICE UK ran her story, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_uk\/read\/syria-deraa-USA-Jordan-FSA-regime-CIA\"  target=\"_blank\">\u201cI Learned to Fight Like an American at the FSA Training Camp in Jordan,\u201d<\/a> yet it too failed to make it across the Atlantic into American reporting.\u00a0International Syria experts thought her story hugely significant,\u00a0but it got\u00a0little attention. Top Syria expert in the US, Joshua Landis, announced on his Twitter account Thursday: \u201cSara Williams gets the scoop on the top secret FSA Training Camp in Jordan.\u201d\u00a0This courageous young freelancer revealed, with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_uk\/read\/syria-deraa-USA-Jordan-FSA-regime-CIA\"  target=\"_blank\">photos<\/a>, the ins and outs of this secretive facility -yet the mainstream carefully shielded Americans from knowledge of the explosive report.<\/p>\n<p>In email conversation with her\u00a0this weekend, Williams told me: \u201cThe access was tough to get, but I think it was worth the effort: to my mind, it\u2019s important that people know what their government is doing in their name, with their tax dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_uk\/read\/syria-deraa-USA-Jordan-FSA-regime-CIA\"  target=\"_blank\">investigative report<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Confirmed: \u201cUS-run training camp\u201d for Syrian rebels in Northern Jordan<\/li>\n<li>Rebel recruits go \u201coff the grid\u201d while in secretive training camp<\/li>\n<li>Rebel fighter: \u201cThe Americans who taught us wore military uniforms I did not recognize. We called them by their first names and they spoke English to us.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Camp awash with \u201cAmerican food and American dollars\u201d: recruits eat Kentucky Fried Chicken and live in temporary \u201cpre-fabricated housing\u201d units<\/li>\n<li>Recruits sent through intense 40 day program, which includes exercise, training in anti-tank missiles, and boot camp style atmosphere with orders given by US military instructors<\/li>\n<li>Upon graduation, US trained insurgents slip back across Syria\u2019s southern border<\/li>\n<li>Experts say there are more camps like this one<\/li>\n<li>American trained rebel insurgent says: \u201cAmerica is benefiting from the destruction and the killing in order to weaken both sides.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>________________________________<\/p>\n<p><i>Brad Hoff<b> <\/b><\/i><i>served as a Marine from 2000-2004 at Headquarters Battalion, Quantico.
