The Warhol Superstars were a clique of New York City personalities promoted by Andy Warhol during the 1960s and early 1970s. They appeared in Warhol’s artworks, accompanied him in his social life and epitomized his famous dictum: “In the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Lou Reed and David Bowie\u2019s \u2018Walk on the Wild Side\u2019 (1972) tells the stories of Holly Woodlawn, Candy Darling, Joe Dellasandro, Joe Campbell and Jackie Curtis. Before stardom under Warhol\u2019s wing they had lived a life of crime and prostitution to survive in the harsh New York City streets. Lou Reed died on 27 Oct, 2013. RIP<\/p>\n
