This day is the same
\nas any other day of last week
\neven last year.<\/p>\n
The willful ghosts of sorrow
\nhave not dissolved
\nnor have the fogs of ignorance
\nwhich float over the cold tombs.<\/p>\n
Rather,
\nthey have grown in strength
\nin the gloom of violence.<\/p>\n
If nights were replaced by days
\njust by thinking,
\nthe corners of darkness
\nwould have been lit by now.<\/p>\n
Eaters of stale crumbs
\nin the mornings
\nshould have been welcomed
\nby the appetizing smells
\nof fresh and warm foods.<\/p>\n
The hours of suffering
\nwould have been reduced,
\njoys lasted longer
\nand lives changed.<\/p>\n
When this sun does not surge
\nit does not matter
\nwhat year or date it is.<\/p>\n
Just by the murmurs of the clock
\nhistory does not alter,
\nlife will not wear
\nanother mantle;
\nonly calendars become new.<\/p>\n
Some cards are traded
\nfeasts are arranged.<\/p>\n
This is not a change.
