The parents of the 43 Mexican students\u00a0will continue demanding a proper investigation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Parents of the 43 Mexican students\u00a0forcibly\u00a0disappeared in Iguala, Guerrero, September 26, offered a press conference late Tuesday [27 Jan 2015] where they categorically rejected the Attorney General’s conclusion on the case, after he said all the students were kidnapped, killed, burned and thrown into a river.<\/p>\n

The parent’s spokesperson Felipe de la Cruz said they will continue demanding the government clarify what happened that night when their beloved were disappeared.\u00a0He added that the struggle to find them alive will also continue even when Attorney General Jesus Murillo Karam has decided to close the case.<\/p>\n

Murillo Karam corroborated the government’s official version early Tuesday and decided too close the case citing several confessions and forensic evidence<\/a>, despite the fact that only one of the students, Alexander Mora, has been identified so far, after a foreign forensic team determined that bone fragments found in a plastic bag in a river in the locality of Colula matched the DNA of his relatives.<\/p>\n

In the press conference Vidulfo Rosales, a lawyer representing the families of the missing students, said the government is \u201cin a hurry\u201d to close the case, he added that there are reports of the presence of military and federal police personnel in Guerrero.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government first closes the case and after sends officials and troops to control the ongoing protest in the state of Guerrero,\u201d Rosales said.<\/p>\n

The lawyer concluded that it’s impossible to close the case since there are a lot of loose ends in the investigation. He said the most important issue is the lack of scientific evidence and also the lack of veracity in the confessions in which the authorities base their conclusions, since most of them were obtained under coercion.<\/p>\n

Rosales added that the case will be submitted before the U.N. Committee on Enforced Disappearances in order to force the government of Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto to answer\u00a0for\u00a0its actions when it comes time for the country to undergo its Universal Periodic Review.<\/p>\n
