I would like to write a poem and nail it
\nto a stake at humanity\u2019s crossroads.
\nIt would say: choose your path wisely.<\/p>\n
It would say: this path we are on is far
\ntoo treacherous, a trap for the unwary
\nand complacent.<\/p>\n
It would say: take down the gun pointed
\nat humanity\u2019s heart \u2013 enough of war,
\nenough of nuclear weapons, enough
\nof stumbling toward collective suicide.<\/p>\n
It would say: enough homage to death \u2013
\nchoose life and be a citizen of the world.
\nIt would say: be kinder than necessary.<\/p>\n
It would certainly say: when it rains, the water
\nsinks into the Earth and the grass grows
\ntoward the sun.<\/p>\n
It would say: when the winds blow, the leaves
\nwill flutter from the trees like butterflies.
\nIt would remind us to stop and look at
\nthe beauty around us.<\/p>\n
It would say: this is Eden, but it needs care.
\nIt would say: before you choose a path, think
\nabout the people of the future.<\/p>\n
It would say: make each moment of your time
\non Earth matter.<\/p>\n
It would say: choose the path of peace.<\/p>\n
