Then the city council decided to ban farm animals within city limits, and the family was forced to sell the cow.<\/p>\n<p>The parents were devastated and worried how they could feed their children. They had to look for jobs, and both mother and father found well-paying jobs, and they were much better off than before, able to send their children to school.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes we cling to what is familiar, and don&#8217;t realize that we enjoy more freedom than we believe. Some people act like a drunken man who stood outside the city park, shaking the fence and calling, &#8220;Let me out, please let me out!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>____________________________<\/p>\n<p><em>Dietrich Fischer, born in 1941 in M\u00fcnsingen, Switzerland, got a Licentiate in Mathematics from the University of Bern 1968 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from New York University 1976. 1986-88 he was a MacArthur Fellow in International Peace and Security at Princeton University.
