Thank you!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0We want to especially acknowledge people who met with us and shared their tragic experiences despite living in an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in the politically charged environment prior to the January 2015 elections. This report is dedicated to them and the families of thousands of others who went missing during and after the war.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The bloody civil war that ravaged Sri Lanka for 26 years officially ended in 2009 with the defeat of the minority Tamil separatists, led by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
