Obama on Track to Drop More Bombs than Bush throughout the Planet
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

\"BOMBERS-300x199<\/a>\u201cU.S. Central Command\u2019s latest figures on its aerial bombardment of Iraq and Syria reveal that this\u00a0is the heaviest U.S. bombing campaign since President George W. Bush\u2019s \u201cShock and Awe\u201d campaign against Iraq in 2003.\u00a0In the campaign\u2019s first ten months from August 2014 to May 2015, the U.S. and its allies conducted\u00a015,245 air strikes<\/a>, or an average of 51 air strikes per day.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is only the latest campaign in a 15-year\u00a0global air war, largely ignored by U.S. media, in which the United States and its allies have conducted at least\u00a01<\/a>18<\/a>,000 air strikes<\/a>\u00a0against\u00a0other countries\u00a0since 2000.\u00a0The 47,000 air strikes conducted in the 6 \u00bd years since President Barack Obama took office are only a small reduction from the 70,000 in eight years of the Bush administration, and\u00a0the current campaign\u00a0will easily make up that deficit if it continues at this intensity until Obama leaves office\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter 118,000 air strikes, millions of casualties, trillions of dollars squandered, and country after country plunged into chaos, the U.S. has failed to gain political control over any of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut our complacent\u00a0leaders and their self-satisfied\u00a0advisers\u00a0blunder on, debating who to threaten or\u00a0attack next:\u00a0Russia? China?<\/a>\u00a0Iran? Which\u00a0\u201cthreat\u201d\u00a0provides the best pretext\u00a0for\u00a0further\u00a0U.S.\u00a0military expansion? U.S.\u00a0war-making is not just dangerous and irrational. It is also a crime\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
