Bush is now enjoying his newfound status as the smarter of the two Bush brothers to have achieved elected office.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters at his home in Dallas, Bush said he was deriving \u201cquiet satisfaction\u201d from a new poll showing that ninety-one per cent of the American people now consider him the smarter Bush.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that no one\u2019s saying I\u2019m a genius,\u201d he said, modestly. \u201cBut I look pretty good when I\u2019m graded on a curve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bush pointed with particular pride to the fact that seventy-four per cent of those polled said that, of the two Bush brothers, he had a \u201cfar superior command of the English language.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was President, I got a lot of grief from people who didn\u2019t think my English was too good,\u201d he said. \u201cI think now they\u2019re realizing it could have been worser.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bush-brothers.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-64963\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bush-brothers.jpg\" alt=\"bush brothers\" width=\"430\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bush-brothers.jpg 430w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bush-brothers-300x136.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 430px) 100vw, 430px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The former President said that he hoped the American people\u2019s view of him as the smarter Bush would soon be shared by his parents, George and Barbara Bush.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Thanksgiving, Mom and Dad would never let me carve the turkey because they thought I\u2019d screw it up somehow,\u201d he said. \u201cSomething tells me I\u2019ll be carving that turkey this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>__________________________<\/p>\n<p><em>Andy Borowitz is a <\/em>New York Times<em> best-selling author and a comedian who has written for <\/em>The New Yorker<em> since 1998.
