{"id":68096,"date":"2015-12-28T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-12-28T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=68096"},"modified":"2015-12-27T15:54:52","modified_gmt":"2015-12-27T15:54:52","slug":"tarantino-i-utterly-reject-argument-that-only-some-cops-are-bad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2015\/12\/tarantino-i-utterly-reject-argument-that-only-some-cops-are-bad\/","title":{"rendered":"Tarantino: I \u2018Utterly Reject\u2019 Argument That only Some Cops Are Bad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>25 Dec 2015 &#8211; <\/em>Quentin Tarantino continues to stand by anti-police comments he made earlier this fall in a new interview, saying he \u201ccompletely rejects\u201d the \u201cbad apples\u201d argument that only a small number of police officers behave inappropriately on the job.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/quentin-tarantino.jpg\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-68097\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-68097\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/quentin-tarantino.jpg\" alt=\"quentin-tarantino\" width=\"612\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/quentin-tarantino.jpg 612w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/quentin-tarantino-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ew.com\/article\/2015\/12\/21\/quentin-tarantino-hateful-eight-police-boycott\" >interview with <em>Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> on Monday (and in an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/video\/2015\/12\/16\/tarantino-there-is-this-institutional-racism-that-is-just-bred-in-law-enforcement\/\" >interview with Howard Stern<\/a> last week), the <em>Hateful Eight<\/em> director put the blame for some instances of police brutality on the \u201cinstitutional racism\u201d of the profession.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI completely and utterly reject the bad apples argument,\u201d the director told <em>EW<\/em>.\u00a0\u201cChicago just got caught with their pants down in a way that can\u2019t be denied. But I completely and utterly reject the \u2018few bad apples\u2019 argument.\u00a0Yeah, the guy who shot [Laquan McDonald] is a bad apple. But so are the other eight or nine cops that were there\u00a0that said nothing, did nothing, let a lie stand for an entire year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the chief of police, is he a bad apple?\u201d Tarantino continued. \u201cI think he is. Is [Chicago Mayor] Rahm Emanuel a bad apple? I think he is. They\u2019re all bad apples. That just shows that that\u2019s a bulls*** argument. It\u2019s about institutional racism. It\u2019s about institutional cover-ups that are about protecting the force as opposed to the citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tarantino created a firestorm of controversy in October when he participated in an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-hollywood\/2015\/10\/25\/quentin-tarantino-marches-ny-anti-police-rally-four-days-nypd-cop-fatally-shot\/\" >anti-police brutality rally in New York City<\/a>, where he said: \u201cI am a human being with a conscience. And when I see murder, I cannot stand by, and I have to call the murdered the murdered and I have the call the murderers the murderers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tarantino\u2019s comments sparked <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-hollywood\/2015\/10\/31\/roof-caves-in-on-cop-hater-tarantino-1000-police-organizations-join-hateful-eight-boycott\/\" >calls for a boycott<\/a> of the director\u2019s upcoming <em>Hateful Eight<\/em>from some of the largest police associations in the country, including the NYPD, LAPD, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the National Association of Police Organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Fraternal Order of Police executive director said his group\u2019s 300,000 members had an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-hollywood\/2015\/11\/06\/fraternal-order-of-police-announces-a-surprise-is-coming-for-tarantino\/\" >economically damaging \u201csurprise\u201d planned<\/a> for Tarantino before the Christmas Day release of his film. But the director told <em>EW<\/em> he only had \u201cnatural human trepidation\u201d before the New York and Los Angeles premiers of <em>Hateful Eight<\/em>, and that, rather than frighten him, the police association\u2019s threats proved his point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as getting my point across, the cops response to it has made my point for me in so many ways,\u201d he said. \u201cThey look really bad. Civil servants, even rhetorically, shouldn\u2019t be threatening private citizens. They sounded like bad guys in an \u201980s action movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Hateful Eight<\/em> opens this week in select theaters before opening wide on New Year\u2019s Day. <em>Variety<\/em> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2015\/film\/news\/hateful-eight-revenant-leak-watch-online-1201666010\/\" >reports<\/a> that a screener of the film intended for Academy voters has leaked on the Internet and had already been illegally downloaded more than 500,000 times in a 24-hour period.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/truthvoice.com\/2015\/12\/tarantino-i-utterly-reject-argument-that-only-some-cops-are-bad\/#.Vn4HUOEwMDw.twitter\" >Go to Original \u2013 truthvoice.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cI completely and utterly reject the bad apples argument.
