Samper stressed that the impeachment process against Rousseff is just beginning, and that UNASUR will wait until a final resolution is released to consider further action.<\/p>\n<p>Uruguay\u2019s ruling Broad Front coalition said in a statement that the imposed government \u201cwill only deepen political and economic instability\u201d with consequences not only for Brazil, but also for the region. The political movement also expressed solidarity with Rousseff and her Workers\u2019 Party, saying the goal of the impeachment process is a right-wing political power grab by the country\u2019s economic elite.<\/p>\n<p>Uruguay pushed for a resolution within UNASUR earlier this year to support Rousseff in the face of an opposition impeachment bid, but the move was ultimately unsuccessful due to a lack of support from Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, and Colombia, according to MercoPress.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_73878\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/021063-michel-temer-051616.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73878\" class=\"wp-image-73878\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/021063-michel-temer-051616.jpg\" alt=\"Michel Temer, Brazil's interim president, at the inauguration of his newly appointed ministers.
