David Bachar<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>14 Jul 2016 &#8211; <\/em>A Brazilian federal university released a public notice saying it wants to hire a teacher who must teach that Zionism is a racist concept.<\/p>\n<p>The ABC Federal University seeks a teacher of \u201cracial-ethnic relations\u201d who must include in the curricula the subject \u201cconnections of whiteness and racist regimes: Apartheid, Nazism, Zionism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president of the Brazilian Israelite Confederation, Fernando Lottenberg, met Brazilian minister of education Mendon\u00e7a Filho on Tuesday to discuss the notice. In addition, the Jewish official spoke about pre-university exams on Saturdays and adding Jewish history to the national school curricula.<\/p>\n<p>The minister was \u201csurprised and upset\u201d and declared that he finds the case \u201cabsurd,\u201d according to a statement from the confederation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA course intended to fight racism seeks a teacher to look at a part of Jews with\u2026 racist eyes,\u201d wrote a respected columnist of the influential Veja magazine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe true catastrophe, which sometimes seems to be unsolvable, is education, at all levels. An ABC university notice exposes the depth of our tragedy,\u201d added columnist Reinaldo Azevedo.<\/p>\n<p>The selected teacher will earn $2,500 per month.
