{"id":77664,"date":"2016-08-15T12:00:43","date_gmt":"2016-08-15T11:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/?p=77664"},"modified":"2016-08-14T14:11:35","modified_gmt":"2016-08-14T13:11:35","slug":"cia-breaks-its-silence-on-new-silk-road-says-challenging-the-brics-and-aiib-was-a-mistake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/2016\/08\/cia-breaks-its-silence-on-new-silk-road-says-challenging-the-brics-and-aiib-was-a-mistake\/","title":{"rendered":"CIA Breaks Its Silence on \u201cNew Silk Road\u201d: Says Challenging the BRICS and AIIB Was a \u201cMistake\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-777x437-china-brics.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-77665\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-777x437-china-brics.jpg\" alt=\"newsilkroad-777x437 china brics\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-777x437-china-brics.jpg 777w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-777x437-china-brics-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-777x437-china-brics-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>13 Aug 2016 &#8211; <\/em>For the geopolitically alert audience, there\u2019s little worthwhile on television these days (assuming there ever was);\u00a0but for those willing to wade through the Matrix Box\u2019s flashing imagery\u00a0of disinformation, entrainment technology, and trash TV, a select few programs contain the\u00a0occasional glimmer of Deep Political lucidity\u00a0from a\u00a0typically tight-lipped \u201cruling class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One such show is MSNBC\u2019s <em>Morning Joe<\/em>, due in no small part\u00a0to co-host Mika Brzezinski\u2019s segment that I\u2019ve come to lovingly refer to as <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yFGEF5YsAwg\" >Conversations with Daddy Zbigniew<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Another long-running example, the \u201cprestigious\u201d PBS program hosted by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xVylJESBVv8\" >Bilderberger<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/publicintelligence.net\/trilateral-commission-complete-membership-list-may-2010\/\" >Trilateral Commission member<\/a> Charlie Rose, provides unparalleled access in this regard \u2013 that is, when he\u2019s not busy passing off celebrity interviews as \u201ccultured\u201d and \u201csophisticated\u201d or even \u201cnewsworthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But when Charlie\u2019s immense access (from <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=q5z8RvD4ym4\" >Rockefellers<\/a> to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VNvZ8dLnOVE\" >Rothschilds<\/a>) is put\u00a0to the test, there is\u00a0no better glimpse for\u00a0the public into the world of geopolitik and its \u201cGrand Chessboard.\u201d At least, not on TV! One such conversation took place\u00a0earlier this week and has already gotten its fair share of coverage in the blogosphere \u2013 an interview with former deputy director of the CIA, Mike Morell.<\/p>\n<p>Morell has ostensibly \u201cleft\u201d the agency after 33 years of so-called \u201cservice\u201d for the express intent of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/08\/05\/opinion\/campaign-stops\/i-ran-the-cia-now-im-endorsing-hillary-clinton.html\" >publicly endorsing Hillary Clinton for President<\/a>, which he did by publishing\u00a0a gushing ovation in <em>The New York Times<\/em>. Among his laundry list of reasons for endorsement, Morell emphatically declares that a Clinton regime would be <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2016-08-09\/former-cia-acting-director-and-hillary-supporter-we-should-kill-russians-and-iranian\" >more willing to \u201ckill Russians\u201d and \u201ckill Iranians,\u201d<\/a> would be more apt to escalate war in Syria, and would doubtlessly be more likely to (as Charlie Rose puts it) \u201carm the Mujahidden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Which of course, has <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VnV_pNe_BB0\" >never been done before in history to catastrophic ends<\/a>. Ever.<\/p>\n<p>Morell also suggests over the course of the interview (as well as his\u00a0<em>Times\u00a0<\/em>op-ed) that Donald Trump is an unwitting Russian agent \u2013 a claim that many will find ridiculous yet, nevertheless, has been somewhat substantiated\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.madcowprod.com\/2016\/03\/17\/donald-trump-dirty-money-the-filthy-rich-in-palm-beach\/\" >by none other than veteran 9\/11 sleuth and drug trade researcher, Dan Hopsicker<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And all this within the first half of the interview! We owe it all to the\u00a0intimate setting of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Round_Table_movement\" >round (oak) table<\/a>, truly.<\/p>\n<p>The latter\u00a0portion of this illuminating dialogue, unfortunately, received far less play; it was at this point that the conversation shifted from domestic politics and Middle Eastern wars of imperialism towards the rise of China. Speaking \u201cstrictly for himself,\u201d the former DD\/CIA offered\u00a0his opinions on potential conflict with China \u2013\u00a0and perhaps more importantly,\u00a0<em>the shared interests of a rising China and the Anglo-American Establishment in a multilateral World Order.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But hey, you know what they say about quitting the Agency: <em>You never really do<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_77666\" style=\"width: 685px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Mike-Morell-cbs-news.png\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-77666\" class=\"size-full wp-image-77666\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Mike-Morell-cbs-news.png\" alt=\"Mike Morell CBS News\" width=\"675\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Mike-Morell-cbs-news.png 675w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Mike-Morell-cbs-news-300x116.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-77666\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mike Morell CBS News<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>The <em>One Belt, One Eurasian Encirclement<\/em> Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The most <strong>important bilateral relationship<\/strong> for the future of Eastasia, for the future of the world, is the relationship between Washington and Beijing. That\u2019s a strong statement, but I believe it to be true.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>\u2013<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/charlierose.com\/videos\/28568\" >Mike Morell on Charlie Rose<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>This author has long documented the merging (and in part, managed destruction) of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/statelesshomesteading.com\/dr-bricslove-or-how-alt-media-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-love-the-nwo\/\" >\u201cold unipolar Order of the West\u201d in favor of\u00a0the \u201cnew multipolar Order of the East;\u201d<\/a> a thesis not built upon some personal stroke of brilliance or super-secret \u201cinsider\u201d information, but rather the\u00a0ruminations of\u00a0Globalist organizations themselves on these matters, which are openly released to the public in the form of\u00a0policy papers. The list of institutions proclaiming a desire for an Eastern-led economic and geopolitical \u201cmultipolar New World Order\u201d is staggering, and the names on that list should\u00a0not be strangers to even the casual Deep Political researcher:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamhouse.org\/sites\/files\/chathamhouse\/publications\/research\/20151113InternationalEconomicGovernanceG20SubacchiPickford.pdf\" >Chatham House<\/a> (the British outpost of the CFR)<\/li>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bis.org\/review\/r090402c.pdf\" >Bank for International Settlements<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/unctad.org\/en\/PublicationsLibrary\/osgdp20141_en.pdf\" >United Nations Council on Trade and Development<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/news.xinhuanet.com\/english\/photo\/2016-04\/01\/c_135244165.htm\" >People\u2019s Bank of China<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamhouse.org\/sites\/files\/chathamhouse\/field\/field_document\/0212gt_schenk1.pdf\" >International Monetary Fund<\/a>\u00a0and its SDR\u00a0Basket<\/li>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chinadaily.com.cn\/business\/2015-07\/17\/content_21308703.htm\" >World Bank and AIIB via \u201cDevelopment Pacts\u201d<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brics.utoronto.ca\/docs\/150422-environment.html\" >BRICS Bank<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160313204843\/http:\/www.themoscowtimes.com\/business\/article\/at-g20-kremlin-to-pitch-new-currency\/375364.html\" >Kremlin<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u2026and even <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.goldmansachs.com\/our-thinking\/archive\/archive-pdfs\/brics-dream.pdf\" >Goldman Sachs<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CIA, too, now count themselves among these ranks, after distinctly\u00a0<em>missing\u00a0<\/em>the \u201cmultipolar\u201d memo last year\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2015\/mar\/13\/white-house-pointedly-asks-uk-to-use-its-voice-as-part-of-chinese-led-bank\" >when the Obama administration vocally opposed the UK\u2019s early entry into the AIIB<\/a>. Not to be caught playing second-fiddle in the \u201cSpecial Relationship,\u201d Morell took the opportunity on his\u00a0tell-a-vision\u00a0appearance to bring his (and by some measure of extension, the Agency\u2019s) views in line with those\u00a0expressed by Chatham House in its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamhouse.org\/sites\/files\/chathamhouse\/publications\/research\/20151113InternationalEconomicGovernanceG20SubacchiPickford.pdf\" >latest policy paper on \u201cinternational economic governance\u201d<\/a>\u00a0when he said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>We will give China more room to exercise influence<strong> if they play by the rules of the International Order<\/strong>. What does that mean? It means that, for example, I think <strong>it was a mistake for the United States of America to push back when China wanted to create a regional development bank<\/strong>. The Brits broke rank with us immediately. So you don\u2019t push back on stuff like that where <strong>they\u2019re actually trying to play by the rules<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>-Mike Morell on Charlie Rose<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So according to the\u00a0Deputy Director of the CIA itself, the Eastern development bank(s)\u00a0<em>are not a threat to the \u201cInternational Order.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>On the contrary, they\u00a0are China\u2019s outward attempt to \u201cplay by the rules,\u201d as Mr. Morell puts it, and are rapidly integrating themselves into\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/statelesshomesteading.com\/dr-bricslove-or-how-alt-media-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-love-the-nwo\/\" >veteran institutions of the \u201crules based international order\u201d like the IMF and World Bank<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Comparing Morell\u2019s above statement with the policy prescriptions of Chatham House, one can clearly see\u00a0a concerted effort that spans multiple institutions towards\u00a0paving\u00a0the way for an Eastern-centric World Order:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/cia-morell.png\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-77667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/cia-morell.png\" alt=\"cia morell\" width=\"328\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/cia-morell.png 328w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/cia-morell-300x270.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From Chatham House publication, \u201c<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamhouse.org\/sites\/files\/chathamhouse\/publications\/research\/20151113InternationalEconomicGovernanceG20SubacchiPickford.pdf\" >International Economic Governance: Last Chance for the G20?<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bear in mind that the most widely publicized infrastructure project of the BRICS and AIIB is the New Silk Road (or \u201cOne Belt, One Road\u201d project as it\u2019s called in China) \u2013 a planned trade and travel land route spanning vast swaths of the Eurasian rimland. There\u2019s a specific reason Western intelligence agencies would be keen on giving their blessing to such a \u201cNew Silk Road,\u201d but we\u2019ll come to that soon enough.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t long ago that the\u00a0<em>Charlie Rose<\/em> program <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jAxOOoRj2CU\" >broadcast an interview with another consummate insider, Henry Kissinger,<\/a> discussing the place of China in a \u201cNew World Order\u201d (Mr. Kissinger\u2019s words). Elaborating on this point later, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5M1KD7Dnq4s&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;t=42m57s\" >Kissinger lamented<\/a> that while China valued the \u201csuperiority and uniqueness\u201d of their culture, he thought it \u201chard to imagine Chinese armies invading somewhere to make Chinese culture, Chinese governing principles. That is not a Chinese way of thinking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard for me to imagine a Chinese military strategy backed up by a Chinese world government, even in the name of universal peace,\u201d he noted\u00a0in a lecture to the Center for Strategic International Studies.<\/p>\n<p>In Mike Morell\u2019s recent\u00a0<em>Charlie Rose\u00a0<\/em>appearance, though, the former CIA agent seems to refute Kissinger\u2019s notion of China\u2019s cultural and historic lack of overt imperialism; as Morell states in no uncertain terms, the use of military force to protect overlapping \u201cnational security interests\u201d is actively being marketed to the Chinese government, and not without success:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Morell: I base this on my own conversations with Chinese officials, my counterparts in China. I believe that <strong>there are a growing number of places in the world where our national security interests overlap<\/strong> than where they are in conflict. I believe there\u2019s potential for us to cooperate and work together.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Rose: Do the Chinese believe that and do they want to do that?<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Morell: Yes. Yes, I think they believe it and they\u2019re increasingly coming to understand that it is in their best interest.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On these two fronts, the economic expansion of the twin Asian development banks as well as joint\u00a0\u201cnational security\u201d (read: Empire-building) interests, American Intelligence sees room for cooperation. Morell was, however, quick to clarify: Chinese expansion into the South China Sea is\u00a0<em>not<\/em> a \u201cshared national security interest,\u201d but a point of tension, particularly as the Anglo-American Establishment has set forth in its \u201cIsland Chain\u201d policy of Chinese containment (for more on this topic, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mixcloud.com\/ECFR\/29-july-2015-putting-the-geo-back-into-geopolitics\/?utm_content=buffer1c5b2&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_campaign=buffer\" >listen to\u00a0this Council on Foreign Relations\u00a0podcast<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>While China\u2019s blue-water expansion is disallowed in the eyes of Morell and the CIA, there is far more room for overlapping \u201cnational security interests\u201d on land \u2013 particularly on such a lengthy route as the one proposed by the New Silk Road. And perhaps not coincidentally, the \u201cOne Belt, One Road\u201d project\u00a0just so happens to be situated along a region long considered\u00a0the linchpin for global dominance: The Eurasian Heartland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Who rules East Europe commands the Heartland;<br \/>\nWho rules the Heartland commands the World-Island;<br \/>\nWho rules the World-Island commands the World.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>-Sir John Mackinder, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/democraticideals00mackiala\" >Democratic Ideals and Reality<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>While the term \u201cHeartland\u201d was coined by John Mackinder during the original \u201cGreat Game\u201d between Czarist Russia and the British Empire during the 19th Century, it is generally understood today to describe\u00a0Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Central-Asian Caucus states. The British Empire of antiquity postulated that <em>direct control and invasion<\/em> of the Heartland was the key to victory; modern schemers for the cause of World Federalism like Zbigniew Brzezinski, however, hold that\u00a0<em>the encirclement of the Heartland<\/em> is the true path to world domination.<\/p>\n<p>Brzezinski refined Mackinder\u2019s original \u201cHeartland\u201d idea in his 1997 book, <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.activistpost.com\/product\/0465027261\/US\/permacultucom-20\/?cart=y\" >The Grand Chessboard<\/a>,<\/em> referring to the region as the Eurasian Balkans:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The Eurasian Balkans, astride the inevitably emerging transportation network meant to link more directly Eurasia\u2019s richest and most industrious western and eastern extremities, are also geopolitically significant.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Moreover, they are of importance from the standpoint of security and historical ambitions to at least three of their most immediate and more powerful neighbors, namely, Russia, Turkey, and Iran, with China also signaling an increasing political interest in the region.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>But the Eurasian Balkans are infinitely more important as a potential economic prize: an enormous concentration of natural gas and oil reserves is located in the region, in addition to important minerals, including gold.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>-Zbigniew Brzezinski, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.activistpost.com\/product\/0465027261\/US\/permacultucom-20\/?cart=y\" >The Grand Chessboard<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>With nearly twenty years of retrospection, it\u2019s clear to see that the \u201cinevitably emerging transportation network\u201d designed to link the \u201cmost industrious western and eastern extremities\u201d has indeed begun development in the form of the \u201cNew Silk Road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And where, exactly, is this\u00a0\u201cOne Belt, One Road\u201d to occupy?\u00a0<em>The Eurasian Balkans.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is a map of the Eurasian Heartland as originally conceived by John Mackinder:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/eurasian-heartland.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-77669\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/eurasian-heartland.jpg\" alt=\"eurasian heartland\" width=\"600\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/eurasian-heartland.jpg 684w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/eurasian-heartland-300x189.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2026and here is a map of the proposed New Silk Road land route:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-768x432.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-77668\" src=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-768x432.jpg\" alt=\"newsilkroad-768x432\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.transcend.org\/tms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/newsilkroad-768x432-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quite literally \u201cHeartland Encirclement by another means\u201d as the (not so) Great Game continues unabated. While it\u2019s yet to be seen whether or not Chinese expansion into the Central-Asian Caucasus will coincide with Anglo-American aspirations of global governance, Mike Morell and his \u201cChinese counterparts\u201d in intelligence are right about one thing: The New Silk Road is\u00a0<em>ripe<\/em>\u00a0for shared \u201cnational security interests\u201d between West and East.<\/p>\n<p>Isolation of Russia. Vast <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/finance\/personalfinance\/investing\/gold\/11630690\/Chinas-new-16bn-gold-fund-at-centre-of-new-Silk-Road.html\" >gold reserves<\/a>. Key <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/sputniknews.com\/politics\/20160712\/1042846437\/iran-china-pivot-silk-road.html\" >natural gas and oil transit lines<\/a>. \u201c<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.drc.gov.cn\/RicardoMelendez-Ortiz.pdf\" >Sustainable Development<\/a>\u201d (Agenda 21) infrastructure. \u00a0The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-34268572\" >resurgence of Golden Triangle opium<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Can the \u201cold World Order\u201d ruling caste sell the \u201cnew kids on the trading block\u201d on shared interests in one or more of these areas?
