Shinework Pictures, one of the country\u2019s largest film companies, produced the Chinese bestseller \u201cKung Fu Yoga\u201d last month.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><em>RELATED: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.telesurtv.net\/english\/news\/Cuba-Doesnt-Trust-the-US-Instead-Goes-to-China-for-Investment-20160318-0017.html\" >Cuba Doesn&#8217;t Trust the US, Instead Goes to China for Investment<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ramirez and Shen expressed the intention\u00a0to expose Cuban and Chinese culture to their respective countries through cinematography, Prensa Latina reports. This includes producing new films with plots featuring characters from both nations.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Cuban and Chinese filmmakers produced \u201cAmor en La Habana,\u201d a film set in Havana\u2019s Barrio Chino (Chinatown). It chronicles the love story of two young students, one Cuban and another Chinese, who fall in love while studying on the island together. The plot reflects the trials and tribulations of a relationship between people of distinct cultures.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 film was the first joint Cuban-Chinese film.<\/p>\n<p>httpv:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vMGxtb4O_Do<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHavana has inspired many writers, painters, poets, and singers,\u201d then Cuban Ambassador to China Alberto Blanco said of the inaugural project. \u201cIn the 1960s, a Chinese friend who created the song \u2018La Linda Habana\u2019 inspired the idea behind this movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, Cuban and Chinese officials are planning to commission more films like \u201cAmor en La Habana\u201d that display their country\u2019s cultural relations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project will promote successful cooperation in this area, resulting in a beneficial cultural exchange between the two countries,\u201d Shen said, Prensa Latina reports.<\/p>\n<p>Since the mid-1990s, shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union, the ruling communist parties of Cuba and China have strengthened cooperation in a number of industries, including film.
