\nby a nuclear war.<\/p>\n

Home is a blue-green planet,
\na pale blue dot in a vast universe,
\na water planet hurtling through space
\nwith its precious cargo, life.<\/p>\n

If it comes, it is likely to be a short
\nbut cataclysmic nuclear war.<\/p>\n

Home has been a place not too hot
\nand not too cold, a place just right
\nfor life to flourish.<\/p>\n

Lately, though, we’ve caused our home
\nto heat up and the seas to rise.<\/p>\n

In a nuclear war, it is said
\nthat the living will envy the dead.<\/p>\n

On this day of celebration
\nof our only planet, we are in danger
\nof being slowly boiled or quickly fried
\nor otherwise being made inoperable.<\/p>\n

We have still not learned to share
\nwith each other, or to love each other
\nand our home. We must try harder.<\/p>\n

Be advised: Earth, even life itself,
\nwill survive without us.<\/p>\n

It is for ourselves that we must change
\nour ways.
