Esperanto’s vocabulary is mostly from English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Latin, Polish, Russian and Yiddish, the languages that Zamenhof was most familiar with. Grammatically, it was primarily influenced by European languages, but some innovations bear a resemblance to some Asian languages, such as Chinese.
