Genetically manipulated organisms (GMOs) also called “transgenic” are laboratory-created organisms whose characteristics have been altered through insertion of genes from other species. For example, the cold resistant gene of salmon is inserted in potatoes aiming at resistance to frost. Or genes from bacteria into corn to give it resistance to certain pests. These disturbances do not occur in nature, break the natural barriers between species and create many risks.
