President Nehru from India was on a state visit in Moscow.

At seven in the morning, he looked out the window of the Kremlin onto the Red Square and saw people busily walking, some in crowded streetcars, and some on bicycles.

“Who are these?” he asked Khrushchev.  “These are the Soviet workers, the masters of our country,” Khrushchev replied.

At 11 in the morning, Nehru looked out of the window again, and saw some long black limousines passing by.

“And who are these?” he asked.  Khrushchev replied, “These are our party officials, the humble servants of the people.
