Ao final da partida entre Portugal e Israel pelas Eliminatórias da Copa do Mundo de 2014, em 25 de março 2013 — porque será que a imprensa daqui não deu a devida importância ao fato?
O jogador português Cristiano Ronaldo recusou-se a trocar sua camisa com a de um jogador de Israel. Questionado sobre a recusa, afirmou: “Não troco minha camisa com assassinos”. O jogo terminou empatado em três gols. Ronaldo poderia estar irritado com o empate em 3 x 3, mas há uma bela atitude pregressa do português: em novembro de 2012, entidades de educação palestinas e vítimas de bombardeios israelenses receberam os recursos da venda da Chuteira de Ouro do atleta português. A chuteira, prêmio recebido em 2011 ao ser eleito o melhor jogador da temporada, é estimada em 1,4 milhão de euros.
Bem, após o apito final, o camisa sete foi procurado por um dos israelenses para a troca de camisa. A resposta de Cristiano foi clara: “Há uma bandeira de Israel bordada aí, não quero levar isso”. A declaração mais dura, mencionando a palavra “assassinos” foi registrada no vestiário após o jogo, quando jornalistas perguntaram ao jogador o motivo de ter recusado a troca de camisas.
