(Português) Governo brasileiro já liberou 197 agrotóxicos este ano

Só até o mês de maio, o governo brasileiro já havia liberado 197 agrotóxicos. Questionada sobre o alto volume em comparação com os anos anteriores, a ministra da Agricultura Tereza Cristina disse, em publicação que pode ser consultada no site da Câmara dos Deputados, que as aprovações são técnicas e que, em governos anteriores, o “processo ideológico” barrava a aprovação desses produtos.

A declaração foi feita durante audiência na Comissão de Agricultura, e a posição do governo federal atraiu inúmeras críticas, considerando que no Brasil já somam 2263 agrotóxicos liberados, 31 aprovados no mês passado.

Defensora do uso de glifosato, Tereza Cristina diz que há uma grande campanha contra o agroquímico, mas que não há base científica para não permitir seu uso, citando que a Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (Anvisa) avalia que o produto não causa prejuízos à saúde.

Porém, por outro lado, o glifosato tem seu uso classificado como potencialmente cancerígeno pela Agência Internacional para Pesquisa Sobre Câncer, vinculada à Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS).

No mês de abril, o estudo “Por Trás do Alimento”, resultado de uma iniciativa das organizações Agência Pública, Repórter Brasil e Public Eye, apontou que a contaminação por agrotóxicos é tão ingente que foram encontrados resíduos de agrotóxicos na água consumida por moradores de 1,3 mil cidades brasileiras, incluindo São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro.
