(SPANISH) SUDAMERICA: PRESIDENTES DE LA REGIÓN FIRMARON CREACIÓN DEL BANCO DEL SUR

Los gobiernos de Argentina, Brasil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay y Venezuela, firmaron este sábado en Margarita (noreste venezolano) el acuerdo de creación del Banco del Sur con un capital inicial de 20 mil millones de dólares, al finalizar la II Cumbre América del Sur-África (ASA).

Tras el anuncio hecho por el presidente venezolano, Hugo Chávez, en medio de la plenaria del encuentro entre los dos continentes y la culminación de la plenaria, los mandatarios se dirigieron a rubricar el documento.

El presidente venezolano invitó a su homóloga chilena, Michelle Bachelet a integrar a su país a la iniciativa y dejar se ser observadoras. La jefe de Estado dijo que evaluarán el desarrollo de la institución y anunciará posteriormente su ingreso.

"Esta noche hemos decidido conformar el Banco del Sur", dijo Chávez durante una de sus intervenciones en la II Cumbre ASA, instalada esta tarde y que culminará mañana con la firma de una Declaración final y un Plan de Acción.

Chávez propuso a la treintena de líderes participantes en la II Cumbre ASA "conformar entre el banco africano y el suramericano una estructura superior de financiación".

"Un Banco Sur-Sur o el Banco del ASA, yo le tengo hasta nombre, Bancasa", declaró el gobernante de Venezuela, y agregó que en esa entidad se podrían depositar las "reservas" monetarias de los países de ambas regiones.

El Banco del Sur es un proyecto impulsado por Venezuela que busca remplazar lo que es el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) y el Banco Mundial (BM) , que guarda las reservas de los países, y con los mismos recursos ofrecen financiamiento, procedimiento que calificó como "de bobos" el presidente Chávez
