Study of Lesbian Parents Finds Zero Instances of Abuse Over 24 Years

INSPIRATIONAL, 15 Nov 2010

Sarah Seltzer - AlterNet

Just off the heels of a study saying lesbians raise extremely well-adjusted children comes another saying they’re unlikely to abuse their kids. In fact, the number is zero percent.

Wow. Researchers at  Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, which studies law and sexuality, has released new information on a decades-long study of lesbian families, interviewed the 17-year old children of their subject families about their upbringings:

The paper found that none of the 78 NLLFS adolescents reports having ever been physically or sexually abused by a parent or other caregiver. This contrasts with 26 percent of American adolescents who report parent or caregiver physical abuse and 8.3 percent who report sexual abuse.

That’s right, not a single one. As Queerty blogger Max Simon wrote, these results plus the previous study pretty much demonstrate that “children are safer in the care of lesbians than Catholic priests.”
