Hey man!

Mahdi Jalili – TRANSCEND Media Service

A fire doesn’t burn if it’s turned into ashes
Take a look at yourself, unfaithful!
You’re a horse with a broken leg
Why run?
Why race?
Escape man!
This is the eastern Berlin Wall
you stop, you die
you run, you die

Hey! I’m talking to you!
Look!
The city lights are out
The mice and dogs and horses are all asleep
and no pig wanders in this cold
You warm up your hands, yet you’re cold
You feel your feet, yet you’re paralyzed
Your eyes are right there, yet you can’t see
You’re dead, man!
No, wait!
You don’t even have it in you to die
Now if you would, or could
Get tired!

This is the woods of Vietnam
you stop, you die
you run, you die
you turn around, you die

Your body is a sieve
yet, no blood is seeping through to be proud of
Your head is cut by quiver
Yet, there is no fellow soldier to vouch for you [having fought]

Now if you would,
or could,
Prove yourself to be a man

Hey man!
This is Halabche
you stop, you die
you run, you die
you turn around, you die
you sleep, you die.
