Dr Ravi P Bhatia – TRANSCEND Media Service

The author wrote the poems in Hindi and translated them to English.

1
The lake meets the river
The river meets the Sea
When they all dry up
Who recognises the lake, the river, the Sea?

2
The Earth beseeches the Sky
Please come closer to us
We want no silver or gold
Just give us a few drops of rain

3
The weather is dry
The Earth is parched
We are afraid about our life
Let us hope Lord Indra recognises our plight
And gives us a few drops of rain

4
When, where, how
Now, here, this way
These Q and As we have already been debated
And discovered we have destroyed our Earth
Now let us at least save humanity

5
The bird asks the tree
When will you give us fruit
The tree asks the farmer
When will you water us
The farmer asks Lord Indradev
When will you give us rain?

6
Drop by drop we get the River
Drop by drop the Sea is formed
A few Drops will quench our thirst
Please save these drops that fall on us

7
The fish is the queen of the sea
Alive by the waters of the sea
If the sea becomes polluted
Who will save our Queen?

8
Where are you going my Lord
Give me my freedom, my life
Your freedom is in your home
Yes, but give us a few drops of water

9
The bird laments out loudly
There is no rain
Please sing Malhar melody
The clouds will help us surely

10.
What we missed during the night
What we saw during the day
Will the Earth remain scorched
No, Just ask the Lord for some drops

11
Wake up my friend, wake up
Don’t run away from your scorched land
This is your land, your only land
Water it and the land will dance in joy

12
After the tears dried up
The thirsty man looked for the clouds
The clouds gazed towards the man
I will give you some water
And your eyes will become wet again
