Ludwig van Beethoven, Alice Sara Ott | France Musique – TRANSCEND Media Service

Pianist Alice Sara Ott plays with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mikko Franck at a live recording on 27 Jan 2018 in the auditorium of Radio France, Paris.

Beethoven’s Piano Concerto #3 was first performed in Vienna on 5 April 1803, the same day as the oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives and the Symphony #2. Composed in c minor, a key dear to the composer, the work is divided into three movements. The Allegro con brio begins with a long orchestral exposition of the two principal themes, in turn played by the soloist. During the development, a dialogue is established between the soloist and the orchestra. The movement closes with a piano cadenza, inspired by the initial theme.
