25 May 2026 – Researchers gave three commercial AI models—GPT-5.2, Claude Sonnet 4, and Gemini 3 Flash—an exercise to train human military strategists. Across 21 simulations and 329 turns, the models chose to use nuclear weapons in all but one game. No model chose to surrender or make meaningful concessions.
