(Castellano) Todos Contra la Violencia

Hace cuatro años, tras una reflexión interna en la sala de Redacción de LPG-La Prensa Gráfica, motivada por la cobertura diaria de homicidios y hechos violentos, el periódico decidió hacer una atrevida apuesta editorial.
El esfuerzo, iniciado en 2005, ha incluido, además de las publicaciones de cuatro especiales –cinco con este que tiene entre manos– la elaboración de un manual periodístico para la cobertura de hechos violentos. La reflexión interna generada a propósito de ese manual, en cuya base está la noción de que cubrir desde el periodismo la violencia no implica exhibirla en forma morbosa sino explicarla, sigue vigente. Nos toca, desde esta sala de Redacción, corregir los excesos y las superficialidades que aún nos impiden cumplir a cabalidad los principios que postulamos en nuestro manual.
Importante ha sido también, gracias a este esfuerzo, el eco en la opinión ciudadana, que incluso ha servido para influir en algunas políticas públicas de la administración que está por terminar.
El reto, ahora, es seguir impidiendo que el silencio y la impunidad amedrenten a los ciudadanos en sus luchas cotidianas contra la violencia. El compromiso sigue vigente.
