(Italian) Prima Che Sia Troppo Tardi…

Riflettendo amaramente sui tragici eventi della seconda guerra mondiale, Martin Niemöller (Lippstadt, 14 gennaio 1892 – Wiesbaden, 6 marzo 1984) scrisse un testo poetico di grande amarezza che ancora oggi dovrebbe servirci per guidare i nostri pensieri e le nostre azioni di fronte all’arroganza, alla follia e alla mancanza di dignità che in questi tempi caratterizzano gran parte degli uomini politici, dell’industria e della finanza ovunque nel mondo: forti coi deboli, deboli coi forti.

Prima di tutto vennero a prendere gli zingari
e fui contento, perché rubacchiavano.

Poi vennero a prendere gli ebrei
e stetti zitto, perché mi stavano antipatici.

Poi vennero a prendere gli omosessuali,
e fui sollevato, perché mi erano fastidiosi.

Poi vennero a prendere i comunisti,
ed io non dissi niente, perché non ero comunista.

Un giorno vennero a prendere me,
e non c’era rimasto nessuno a protestare.

Oggi la storia si ripete:

Prima di tutto vennero Veltroni, Sarkozy e Maroni

a cacciare donne, bambini e uomini Rom

e non abbiamo detto niente perché non eravamo Rom

Poi vennero Bossi, Fini e Maroni

a cacciare marocchini, afghani, etiopi,

nigeriani e senegalesi

e non abbiamo detto niente perché non eravamo marocchini,

afghani, etiopi, nigeriani e senegalesi

Poi non vennero a cacciare i potenti della

P2 e della P3, i mafiosi, gli speculatori e i corrotti

e non abbiamo detto niente

perché dormivamo davanti alla TV

Poi vennero la Gelmini e Tremonti,

a cacciare insegnanti e studenti

e non abbiamo detto niente perché

non eravamo insegnanti o studenti

Poi vennero Marchionne e la Confindustria,

a cacciare gli operai,

a violare i loro elementari diritti,

e non abbiamo detto niente perché non eravamo operai

Poi vennero gli speculatori finanziari,

a rubare a man bassa,

ad affamare immense moltitudini,

e non abbiamo detto niente

perché avevamo da mangiare

Un giorno non lontano verranno a cacciare e

affamare anche noi

e non sarà rimasto nessuno a protestare
