Goal of Israel Lobby in America

For many decades there have been several groups in Washington, DC to lobby for their individual and collective interests. There is nothing wrong in this process as long as what such groups seek is beneficial to everyone involved in the nation. If what such lobbyists search for is conducive to the welfare of all people, then all of us should feel obligated to join hands with them. The secret of life is to help others by providing them with all constructive needs possible.

Lobby’s Real Purpose

However, if lobbyists struggle to get merely what they want regardless of the negative consequences that are bound to make many suffer, then drastic steps need to be taken to reverse the trend by all means. Since this presentation deals with the Israel Lobby in the United States, we need to focus thoroughly on this group, which seems to have developed a strong grip on virtually every senator and congressman, including the US President. This group has one main objective, namely, the welfare and safeguard of the State of Israel.

To this end, the Israel Lobby tries to approach and meet in person every single elected US government official. They want to make sure that they secure from each one of them a promise to give Israel top priority by all means in all political endeavors. This explains why the US government continues to give billions of dollars yearly to Israel, in addition to all devastating weapons possible including nuclear weapons. So far the Israeli lobby succeeded to get what it wanted, especially for the USA to let Israel confiscate Palestinian territory.

Both the USA and Israel express in the open that they want to see two states living in peace side by side: Israel and Palestine. They also try to encourage Palestinians to start negotiations through “healthy dialogues” with Israel to help solve their eventual political differences. In the process of doing so, Israel continues to build settlements for the Jewish people on Palestinian territory. For the past 45 years both the United States and Israel did nothing to solve the problem of Israel’s confiscation of Palestinian land.

Confronted with this reality, the Palestinians had no choice except to seek the support and intervention of the United Nations. Recently the vast majority of the United Nations recognized Palestine as a sovereign state. This recognition instilled hope in Palestinian authorities that the time may be approaching to regain all of Israel’s confiscated land, no matter how much time this may take. Those nations that voted to accept Palestine as an integral part of the United Nations should not remain silent. They should speak loudly of Palestine’s right to regain all of its confiscated territory.

Role of United Nations

Since communicating with both the US and Israel is virtually a dead-end, the Palestinians should take all needed steps within the United Nations to have their violations of human rights by Israelis fully restored. Of course, this would be difficult for US government officials to do something constructive in this regard, at least as long as they continue to be kept hostages of the Israel Lobby. Both the United States and Israel must keep in mind that the security of Israel is not to be sought in the military and in devastating weapons.

They have to replace the usage of the military with healthy dialogues and a strong diplomacy. To this end, Israel may restore all the Palestinian land it confiscated to the Palestinians. Relative to the Israel settlements on Palestinian land, Israel may choose one of two alternatives: 1) Give such settlements to the Palestinians especially those that are poor and homeless, or 2) while keeping them for the Israelis, such settlements should function under the jurisdiction of the Palestinians where the Jews in them may have dual citizenship.

The majority of the Israelis disapprove of the way their government treats Palestinians whose human rights are constantly being violated. Also, the Israeli people have protested in the open against the human rights abuses of their government. Yet the conspicuous tyranny of the Israel government toward Palestinians continues, especially against the helpless consisting mostly of women, children, the elderly and the sick. The Palestinian territory has been decimated as to make it difficult for Palestinians to deal with each other.

After visiting Palestine some time ago, Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, a Noble Prize winner for his humanitarian work stated clearly: This is the worst apartheid I have ever seen, much worse than the one we used to have in South Africa. Inside Palestine, the Israeli government set up a lot of check points and for Palestinians to move from one of their cities to another they have to form long lines and be thoroughly checked like they were criminals. This has caused mothers to give birth in the car risking the baby dying soon afterwards.

Anna Baltzer, a young Jewish-American lady, has been fully dedicated to humanitarian causes. She travelled through Palestine several times and also lived with Palestinians there. A former Fulbright Scholar, she wrote a very stimulating book, A Witness in Palestine, with pictures demonstrating the cruelty of Israelis toward Palestinians. Her website is -– http://AnnaInTheMiddleEast, which is very inspiring. Her e-mail is: anna.baltzer@gmail.com and her mailing address is P.O. Box 2687, St. Louis, MO 63116, USA. Anna Baltzer may be described as a human being who harbors genuine love toward all people without exception.

Zionists in Biblical Perspective

The Israel Lobby in America is not really concerned with the welfare of all people living in the Middle East area. It is concerned with the implementation of the philosophy of the Zionist Government in Israel. The members of this government have problem in communicating with people in general. The source of this problem may be traced to the fact that, while holding to the contents of the Old Testament, they fully reject the contents of the New Testament. In the Old Testament we find God referring to the Israelis as His children.

The Israelis, through the prophets learned a lot about God, their creator. The other people, known as Gentiles, did not have the real concept of God in the biblical sense. However, when the promised Messiah of the New Testament came into this world, He established the New Covenant where all those who believed in Him, Jews and Gentiles alike, were proclaimed all to be children of God. This means, in the spiritual sphere, Israel today belongs to all those who truly believe in God. That would include Christians and Moslem as well.

The Israel Lobby is somewhat misleading in name. In theory it represents the philosophy of the Jewish people in Israel. However, in practice the situation is different for it rpresents the Zionists in the Israel government. These are composed of a group of extremists who may turn to become very violent when it comes to get what they really want. When considering that the Israel Lobby controls tightly the vast majority of US senators and congressmen, the situation becomes serious, at least as far as the American people are concerned.

When considering that the USA has plenty of good to offer to its people and to the entire world, the US continued support to Israel’s policy of Palestinian annihilation has become very detrimental to the American nation. Many countries no longer view the USA as a nation of hope for peace. Its presence everywhere is now instilling great suspicion because its motives are seriously questioned in many global areas. The US greatest challenge today is how it can bring the Israel Lobby under its full control, instead of the other way round.

As already stated, Israel adheres to the Old Testament philosophy while it still rejects the New Testament one. In the Old Testament we find the philosophy of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Israel today took this Old Testament philosophy to a great extreme. Judged by the way it deals with Palestine, Israel’s philosophy today consists of one thousand eyes for one eye and one thousand teeth for on tooth. By way of contrast, in the New Testament we find the Master Teacher of Nazareth, the proclaimed Messiah, saying to Peter: Put the sword away for he who kills by the sword will die by the sword.

Toward a Hopeful Future

In view of what has been stated, it seems quite obvious that the real goal of the Israel Lobby is the eventual annihilation of Palestine and its eventual annexation to the State of Israel. This explains why Palestine’s hope of its future lies with the United Nations and not with the United States. Palestine should take every morally and legally good step possible through the UN for the eventual creation of two sovereign states in the Middle East. Palestine’s strength should be sought in the development of a strong economy.

It should not be sought in weapons and military armaments. Palestinians should make it clear that they intend to have a demilitarized nation after the example of Costa Rica, which today has the lowest infant mortality in the hemisphere. Israel must keep in mind that every single country in the world has law-breakers. This means that if a Palestinian were to fire a shot at Israel, rather than retaliating the Israelis and Palestinians should work together to obliterate every element of terrorism in the Middle East region.

If both Israel and Palestine were to be governed by individuals who may give top priority to the welfare of all people in the Middle East, the resort to weapons and the military would become a thing of the past. To this end, a mutually beneficial way needs to be found to make sure that the weapons industry does not create scenarios of panic and fear as to continue in business by all means. The more abuses we witness in the use of weapons the more we must become convinced that we lack good, competent and conscientious politicians.

US government officials must keep in mind that charity begins at home, that the welfare of the American people should be always their top priority. It is not appropriate for the USA to continue to furnish Israel with billions of dollars every year and with all the weapons and war machineries imaginable. In the long range, this will eventually make both Israel and the USA less secure as we learned from history under similar circumstances. The real purpose of the Israel Lobby needs to be carefully studied as to know when to draw a firm line.
