Mahdi Jalili – TRANSCEND Media Service

Dedicated to Syrian Women

That woman
Was a tribe
The woman planted at the door
Like a red rose
The smell of spring and the color of life she held
Her spring was lost to the sound of machine guns
And her color to the fear of night bombs
She carried a land of canaries
That woman
Who lost her voice
To the whistles of bombers
The woman in the twilight
Running after her gazelles.
