14 novembro 2015 – Um grande incêndio atingiu um acampamento de refugiados na cidade portuária de Calais, na França, horas após os atentados terroristas em Paris.

A origem do fogo ainda é desconhecida pelas autoridades, que descartaram qualquer relação entre o incidente e os massacres realizados na capital francesa na mesma noite. Mais de 10 mil metros quadrados foram atingidos pelas chamas, que demoraram para ser controladas pelos bombeiros – principalmente devido aos fortes ventos no local, que ajudavam o fogo a se espalhar.

O acampamento, localizado na cidade francesa mais próxima do Reino Unido, abrigava milhares de refugiados vindos do Afeganistão, Iraque, Sudão, Síria, Etiópia e Eritréia. A maioria deles vivia em tendas e cabanas com condições precárias de higiene.

Anteriomente, o R7 divulgou que o incêndio havia deixado cerca de 100 mortos, mas a informação foi desmentida por fontes locais.
