Dietrich Fischer – TRANSCEND Media Service

A Palestinian father wrote to his only son in an Israeli prison how hard it was to dig up the soil to plant potatoes, and how much he wished his son was home and could help him. His son wrote back,

“For heaven’s sake, father, don’t dig in the garden, that is where I buried the weapons!”

The next morning at 4 am, an Israeli bulldozer accompanied by two armored cars came and dug up the entire garden, but found no weapons. The father wrote to his son what had happened. The son wrote back,

“Now plant your potatoes, father, this is the best I could do for you from here.”
