Eternal Assata

Raïs Neza Boneza – TRANSCEND Media Service

RIP, Assata Shakur—
but not in silence, not in chains.
She crossed over unbroken,
under the Havana sun,
where no bars could hold her breath,
no shackles could bend her will.

The empire hunted her,
dreamed of her broken body
as a trophy of fear—
but she slipped their claws,
outlived their cages,
and walked among people
who called her sister,
who called her flame.

For racist white America,
she was a fugitive shadow.
For us,
she was thunder refusing to bow,
a voice that cracked the whip of lies,
a heartbeat of rebellion
that would not be silenced.

She leaves this world
with her dignity untorn,
her story unbent,
her defiance ETERNAL.
She was never theirs.

She belonged to history,
to the people,
to the fight that does not end.
Now she belongs to the ancestors—
a constellation of warriors
guiding us home.
Good night, love.
Rise in power.
