In addition to Moshe Yaalon, all of the following people would face disciplinary action for antisemitic remarks if they were college students today at Harvard, Columbia, Oxford, and many others: 1. David Ben-Gurion. He was the leader of the Zionist movement from the 1930s onwards & was the first Prime Minister of Israel, chiefly responsible for expelling ~750,000 Palestinians from their homes in 1948. In 1948, he described the Israeli political party Herut as a “political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy & social appeal to Nazi and fascist parties.” According to the IHRA definition, that makes him an antisemite. 4. Theodor Herzl. Founder of political Zionism. In 1897, he published a pamphlet called “Mauschel” (derogatory term for “Jew”). 5. Yair Golan. He wrote many best-selling works in the 1880s (Conventional Lies of Our Civilization and Paradoxes) that are replete with antisemitic portrayals of the body of “the Jew” as circumcised & diseased, especially with leprosy. He also believed Jews were a race and different races had different inherent abilities (Jews apparently excelled at politics because of their realistic shrewdness). A Buddhist humanist from Burma (Myanmar), Maung Zarni, nominated for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize, is a member of the TRANSCEND Media Service Editorial Committee, of the TRANSCEND Network for Peace Development Environment, former Visiting Lecturer with Harvard Medical School, specializing in racism and violence in Burma and Sri Lanka, and Non-resident Scholar in Genocide Studies with Documentation Center – Cambodia.
