A man caught in embezzlement asked his lawyer, "Would it help my case if I sent the judge a box of cigars?" The lawyer warned, "Don’t do that! This judge is absolutely incorruptible, it could only hurt our cause." The day the case came to court, the judge ruled in favor of the defendant, to everyone’s surprise. The defendant leaned over to his lawyer and whispered, "That trick with the cigars really worked." The lawyer was shocked and said, "Don’t tell me you sent judge a box of cigars!" The defendant said, "I did, but I enclosed the business card of the plaintiff."

The jury foreman announced to the judge, "Your honor, we found that the man who stole $20,000 is not guilty."
