The deadliest day of Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon so far saw warplanes strike more than 100 locations across the country, hitting densely populated neighbourhoods in Beirut and areas beyond traditional frontlines. The escalation comes as a fragile ceasefire involving the United States and Iran faces mounting pressure. Lebanon has declared a national day of mourning, a day after Israeli strikes pounded cities and villages across the country, killing at least 203 people and wounding more than 1,000 others. Homes have been reduced to rubble, with families searching for survivors, while more than 1.2 million people have been displaced in recent weeks. Analysts warn that the widening scope of strikes into civilian areas signals a dangerous escalation, with broader regional implications.
