A Rhymed Reflection in Memoriam of Prof. Glenn Paige
In Global Political Science history there stands out Glenn D. Paige
for having written and disseminated an extraordinary, inspiring page:
In 2002 he launched more than a book: a transformative Nonkilling Age
which has made that visionary be remembered as a peacebuilding sage
In Honolulu, Hawaii, the Center for Global Nonkilling he founded
A far-sighted initiative on his seminal concept strongly grounded
Physically, Glenn Paige is no longer here
since the early morning of January 22, this year
Dignihumanizingly , his legacy will always be here:
In our global efforts, Killing and Violence let`s never fear!

Glenn Durland Paige was an American political scientist, member of the TRANSCEND Network for Peace, Development and Environment, Professor Emeritus of political science at the University of Hawai‘i, and Chair of the Governing Council of the Center for Global Nonkilling. Paige was known for developing the concept of nonkilling, his studies on political leadership, and the study of international politics from the decision-making perspective with a case study of President Harry S. Truman’s decision to involve the United States in the Korean War.
Francisco Gomes de Matos, Ph.D. is an applied peace linguist from Recife, Brazil. He has degrees in Languages, Law, and Linguistics. He is Professor Emeritus at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco where he is active in the Dom Hélder Camara Human Rights Commission. He is one of the pioneers in Linguistic Rights (author of 1984 Plea for a Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights) and in the emerging area of Peace Linguistics.
