The Syrian Charity Scam
Paul Larudee | CovertAction Magazine - TRANSCEND Media Service, 25 Oct 2021

20 Oct 2021 – Americans want to feel good about themselves by giving money to charities that claim to be helping the Syrian people. But they are being duped into supporting terrorist forces that have brought misery and violence to the country—while crippling U.S. sanctions accentuate the humanitarian crisis.

[Nobel Peace Laureate] Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Falsified Syria Report: Whistleblower
Paul Larudee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 4 Nov 2019

24 Oct 2019 – The information and documents provided by the whistleblower showed that the OPCW had suppressed and distorted its data, analysis and conclusions in order to make it appear that the Syrian government had used banned chemical weapons, when the testing had shown just the opposite. The panel had been requested by the whistleblower himself, who had been outraged by the dishonesty, and who said that other scientists at the organization had been equally upset, but were not yet willing to speak out.

Syria Solidarity Movement’s Statement on the Liberation of Eastern Ghouta
Paul Larudee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 2 Apr 2018

28 Mar 2018 – The complete liberation of Eastern Ghouta is imminent. The Syrian government provided thousands of tons of humanitarian aid to the terrorist-held enclave, from which western-backed militias shelled the city of Damascus for a period of five years, killing over 10,000 civilians, including 1,500 children, and injuring over 30,000 others. During the liberation of Eastern Ghouta, the Russian air force and Syrian Arab Army declared several ceasefires during which tens of thousands of civilians were able to escape their terrorist captors and flee along humanitarian corridors created by the SAA on the ground.

22 Dec 2017 – Both great powers, Russia and the USA, recently claimed victory over the Islamic State (aka Daesh, ISIS, ISIL) in Syria, but only one did the right thing in response. President Putin of the Russian Federation flew to Syria to announce deep cuts to its troop and equipment commitments in Syria.

America First
Paul Larudee | Dissident Voice – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Feb 2017

20 Feb 2017 – Nothing in Trump’s campaign resonated with the American heartland quite like “America First”. But Trump wasn’t the first. Remember Charles Lindbergh? He put “America First” and paid the price.

The Tyranny of Democracy
Paul Larudee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 21 Nov 2016

In fact, compliance with US economic and strategic interests is a far greater factor in US intervention than promotion of democracy, which gets mere lip service. Most of Europe is part of NATO and accepts US “leadership”, which is a bit like the mafia leadership of Sicily. Costa Rica is considered one of the most democratic Latin American countries, but it finds itself in a similar situation, as do most Latin American countries, whether democratic or not.

Who Will Blink in Syria? Russia? Or the US?
Paul Larudee – Dissident Voice, 9 Nov 2015

5 Nov 2015 – The first to die will be US troops. Russians will be made to appear as the killers, but the agents will probably be ISIS, Al-Qaeda (aka al-Nusra), Turks, or the Americans themselves. I’m not ruling out that the Russians might actually do the job, especially if the Americans order their 50 soldiers to the most likely Russian bombing targets and then dare the Russians to hit them. But most likely, the US will do the job itself and not take a chance that the Russians might miss.

Dispatch #5 from the Mussalaha Delegation to Syria: 72 Prisoners of Conscience
Paul Larudee - TRANSCEND Media Service, 3 Jun 2013

When a request is made – especially by a guest – Arab culture demands that it should not be refused. If, therefore, the host finds it impossible or unacceptable to grant the request, its fulfillment will be deferred indefinitely. I regretfully must conclude that this is what is happening with respect to the request that the Mussalaha Peace and Reconciliation Mission made to the Syrian Minister of Justice on May 9, 2013, to release 72 nonviolent prisoners of conscience.

Syrians Neither Need Nor Want Western Interference: The First Syrian Casualty
Paul Larudee - ConterPunch, 27 May 2013

“Truth is the first casualty of war.” The well-worn aphorism could have served as a refrain for the Mussalaha International Peace Delegation to Syria, May 2-10, 2013. We were reminded constantly of the very different interpretations of events that were being portrayed in our home countries and Syria.

Dispatch #1 from the Mussalaha Delegation to Syria: “When can we go back?”
Paul Larudee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 May 2013

“When can we go back?”

This plaintive question of refugees since time immemorial was asked again of Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire at the United Nations High Commission on Refugees intake center in Zahleh, Lebanon, overlooking the vast Beqaa valley, now dotted with refugee camps wherever we look.

Dispatch #2 from the Mussalaha Delegation to Syria
Paul Larudee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 May 2013

As I begin to compose this, I hear what sounds like artillery and rocket fire in the distance, mixed with occasional small arms and possible explosions. Most of their targets must be far away, because I don’t hear them hit. The explosions may or may not be something else.

Syria Dispatch #3: Prisoner Release; Attack on Mother Agnes; Homs Project
Paul Larudee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 May 2013

9 May, 2013 – Damascus – the delegation meets with the Minister of Justice and presents a petition for the release of 72 non-violent activists. If the government wants to make a strong impression of its good will, it will release all 72 at one time before the end of the week, in which case it will be big news. If it decides not to release all of them, it will probably do so in stages, without a lot of fanfare. Let us hope.

Dispatch #4: Declarations of the Delegation; Prisoner Release
Paul Larudee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 May 2013

Further to the sniper firing at the car transporting Mother Agnes, it apparently happened twice, both coming and going, and as far as she knows, the attack was not directed specifically at her, but rather towards all vehicles, with a view toward making the route impassable. The car was damaged but Mother Agnes is fine.

BDS, Arab Land and the Custodian of Absentee Property
Paul Larudee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 19 Nov 2012

The 2005 call by more than 170 Palestinian organizations, both within Palestine and without, to boycott Israeli products and services, divest from companies that support and sustain Israel and sanction the Israeli state and its agencies is one of the most important and potentially one of the most effective strategies to end the injustices perpetrated against the Palestinian people.
