A leading specialist on Iran affairs and former MI6 officer, along with Palestinian military analysts, exposes Israel–US propaganda that spins the Pentagon’s mission failure as “a rescue miracle.”

6 Apr 2026 – Greetings! Hope your Easter egg hunt was more joyous than Trump’s mindless attempt to do Maduro in Iran. As former US Marine officer Jim Webb—whose family has served in the US Armed Forces over three generations—noted, losing five US military aircraft in a single mission, with a large number of troops on board, was not exactly a mission success.

Even by the typical standards of war deceptions, propaganda, and outright cover‑ups, the patriotic‑sounding American narratives of how the United States Armed Forces pulled off a miraculous rescue mission are in a different league of spin. Social media and legacy media are littered with this “rescue miracle” for the two US pilots who ejected from their F‑18 Eagle, which Iranians shot down.

That Iranians—whose Russian‑made air defenses Trump repeatedly boasts have been “obliterated” since the American‑Israeli war of aggression on Iran began on 28 February—managed to shoot down US aircraft is more of a miracle than the reported “successful rescue mission” for the second missing US officer.

But even this Hollywood ending to the Americans’ Easter pilot hunt defies all logic, physical geography, and verified realities.
