De-Mystifying the Uniquely American Epidemic of Mass Shootings

March 2018 – This extensive CCHR-Citizens Commission on Human Rights report is the very best I have read concerning psychoactive drugs and drug-induced violence, suicidality and irrational behaviors.

Note especially the latter pages that will enforce the notion that it isn’t so-called mental illnesses that need addressing, it is the brain-altering effect of the dependency-inducing (so-called) psychiatric drugs that are given out like candy by physicians for the normal emotions of sadness, nervousness, insomnia, low self-esteem, social anxiety, brain malnutrition, etc, all of which are NOT mental illness but rather normal human realities. Please spend a lot of time studying this well-documented treatise.

Psychiatrist Peter Breggin (Google him and watch his powerful videos on YouTube) has always said that people diagnosed with so-called mental illnesses(usually false diagnoses) are never violent UNTIL they start taking the brain-altering, addictive psych drugs or are going through withdrawal syndromes from the drugs!!

“The goal of this report is to help law enforcement, educators and policy makers learn how psychotropic drugs are a hidden link to the prevalence of violence and suicide in the community. Facts, statistics, studies and expert opinions in the report show the medical concerns about the rise of senseless acts of violence coincident with the increase in psychotropic drug prescriptions and usage.”

In the decade prior to his retirement, he practiced what could best be described as “holistic (non-drug) and preventive mental health care”. Since his retirement, he has written a weekly column for the Duluth Reader, an alternative newsweekly magazine. His columns mostly deal with the dangers of American imperialism, friendly fascism, corporatism, militarism, racism, and the dangers of Big Pharma, psychiatric drugging, the over-vaccinating of children and other movements that threaten American democracy, civility, health and longevity and the future of the planet. While I tend to agree with the arguments of Thomas Szasz and the questions raised by the CCHR-Citizens Commission on Human Rights report, I am troubled by the history of this organization and its relationship to the “Church” of Scientology. See the section Controversies and criticisms on the wikipedia site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_Commission_on_Human_Rights. Sorry if you consider this to be an ad hominem argument, but I think we need to be fully aware of the sources that we quote.

  2. Norman Moore says:

The proof is in the pudding and few are looking at what is going on right now to our 14 year old girls for example, it’s heart breaking. Your argument is exactly an ad hominem argument. I applaud anyone or group who raises the alarm about this.

I reviewed the report and find it factual. It’s common knowledge the ability to restrain oneself is reduced when consuming street drugs and alcohol, is it such a leap to take a look at prescribed medications, not just psychiatric. Especially psychiatric medications because they are given to people who have unresolved problems or issues that I doubt the drugs resolve anymore than whiskey would other than possibly by placebo.

Our latest nightmare shooter was obviously unstable, had repeated run-in’s with police and had been treated with psychiatric medications within the year at least. That is our societal solution for unstable, unhappy people these days and this is what we get, the societal solution is to take away second amendment rights when it’s obvious to me we need to put people using these drugs on the “cannot buy or own guns list”.

Drug manufacturers who are only beholden to their stockholders never put money into anything that does not make them money. Suicide prevention in schools is heavily promoted, these are drug company funded campaigns going through mental health front groups like National Alliance for Mental Health and Mental Health America to name a few. I am sure they feel they are doing the right thing. Just like the military who have been drugged into a suicidal epidemic of 22 suicides a day, which has never happened in our history. We now have the CDC’s 2015 statistics showing suicides statistics way up along side prescriptions of antidepressants and antipsychotics. If you don’t like CCHR then go to http://www.madinamerica.com or http://www.ssristories.com or another groups site, this is a very real and deadly issue.
