Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 7 Aug 2023

(Norsk-Norwegian) Nobel Peace Prize Watch avslutter sine årlige anbefalinger til Nobelkomiteen
Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 6 Feb 2023

Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 10 Oct 2022

6 Oct 2022 – Nobel´s prize should each year serve to remind the nations of the world of the urgent need for demilitarization and for taking the UN Charter obligations very seriously. Unfortunately, the Norwegian award committee is betraying Nobel´s trust, breaking the law and deliberately acting in bad faith.

Global Demilitarization – The True Goal of the Nobel Peace Prize
Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 18 Jul 2022

11 Jul 2022 – Dear Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, since I discovered, in 2007, that Alfred Nobel – in his legally binding will – intended to support general and complete disarmament, I have been using the prize as a wedge to help undo the political influence of global militarism.

A Nordic Initiative for Peace in Ukraine and Lasting World Peace
Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 2 May 2022

Oslo, 27 April, 2022 – The war in Ukraine once again shows that the world is like a city with brutal gangs constantly roaming the streets, looting and fighting with loads of heavy weapons. No one will ever feel safe in such a city. The same applies at the international level. No amount of weaponry can make us safe. No country will be safe until also neighboring countries can feel safe. The present international system is broken; to avoid future wars we need deep reforms.

Peace by Global Disarmament or by Press Freedom?
Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 6 Dec 2021

6 Dec 2021 – The Norwegian Nobel Committee never abided by Nobel’s vision of peace and has used the prize to serve its own ideas and interests. It has practiced a concept of Peace without any meaningful limitation; Nobel did not use the word peace in his will. It has been glorifying individuals whereas the task is to promote a political idea: Peace by Disarmament.

Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 11 Jan 2021

Norway’s Parliament Must Change Its Routine for Selection of the Nobel Committee and Legislators Must Comply with the Law
Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 30 Oct 2017

23 Oct 2017 – The Storting must choose those best suited to promote Nobel’s intention. The prize has long been disconnected from the peace ideas Nobel wished to support; it has lacked direction, idea, and of will to challenge the belief in military power. A promising winner for 2017 is reason for hope that the prize will improve. The parliament will select a new Nobel Committee only in a month’s time–and we fear the worst.

Trump–Putin Could Rescue the World Taking the Advice of Alfred Nobel
Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Feb 2017

In the will he used the term “the prize for the champions of peace,” and the correspondence with Bertha von Suttner, the great peace movement leader of the period, shows that it was her political ideas and political friends he wished to support – abolishing weapons and warriors as the tool to get an end to war. This means that almost all statesmen and generals who have received Nobel honors from the Oslo committee have been — considering the actual intention of Alfred Nobel — illegitimate winners.

(Svenska-Swedish) Lay Down Your Arms
The Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 9 Mar 2015

Lay Down Your Arms
The Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 2 Mar 2015

The secrecy surrounding the Nobel Peace Prize has been misused and must cease. This is one of several demands that the newly formed association “Lay Down Your Arms” has sent to the three bodies responsible for awarding the Peace Prize: the Nobel Committee in Oslo, the Parliament that chooses the committee, and the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, which has the superior responsibility to ensure that all selections conform with Alfred Nobel’s stipulations.
